A series of chinook events on November 1-5, 2004

What happened?

On November 1, 2004, a strong southwest flow set up off the west coast of North America. This resulted in chinook winds at times over a 5-day period over southwestern Alberta.

The observations from this event are here. Note that the wind warning criteria for this region, since they are so often subjected to strong winds, are sustained winds of 70 km/h or wind gusts to 120 km/h. The observations presented here are in knots.

70 km/h = 38 kts; 120 km/h = 65 kts.
