The severe weather event of August 3, 2012

What happened

On August 3, 2012, a sever weather outbreak occurred in central and eastern South Dakota, with a couple of tornado reports. The visible satellite imagery from this event was very interesting, and it is shown here.
The things to note are the extensive cumulus field across central SD, the tail-end Charlie with flanking cumuli feeding into it, and finally the line filling in with thunderstorms.
