Gravity waves as seen on RADAR
What happened?
On the evening of September 16, 2005, thunderstorms set up across northern North Dakota.
Ahead of these thunderstorms an outflow boundary eventually set up. As it moved eastward, RADAR revealed gravity waves formed by the movement of this stable air. The RADAR animations of this phenomenon are presented here.
