The severe weather outbreak of January 7, 2008



What happened

On January 7, 2008, a major severe weather outbreak occurred from northeastern Oklahoma all the way to southern Wisconsin. Numerous tornadoes occurred, with 51 separate reports, including a couple of EF-3s. This event was noteworthy because it came so far north, resulting in an EF-3 tornado in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Springfield, Missouri was also under three separate tornado warnings; looking at the RADAR, one sees why.
