The Texas splitting supercells of May 31, 2005
What happened
On May 31, 2005, a supercell thunderstorm formed in Texas. The resulting split produced a left- and a right-mover. The left-moving thunderstorm then proceeded to split into its own set of left- and right-movers.
After that, numerous features were evident on the RADAR: outflow boundaries, hook echoes, and even a sunspike. Numerous severe weather reports came from this cluster of storms, including some tornado reports and very large hail.
