The Nebraska and Iowa splitting supercell of August 26, 2004



What happened

A supercell formed south of Omaha, Nebraska in the afternoon of August 26, 2004. Both supercells--the left- and right-movers--lasted long after the split, giving tornadoes and large hail to the region. The RADAR images, satellite images, and analyses from this event are on this page.
